Welcome to EASS 2025

Dear colleagues and members of the European Association for Sociology of Sport (EASS), as the President of EASS, it is my great pleasure to warmly welcome you to participate in the 21st EASS conference hosted by the Józef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, Poland on June 25-27, 2025. This is the second time that EASS conference will be held in Poland, as in 2004 the conference, the second of its kind, was organised in Rzeszow. We are thus very pleased to return to Poland, especially since many of the founders of our organisation come from this country.

The special scientific event main theme is „Sport and the world in crisis: challenges and solutions”, which captures much what is happening not only in the world of sport today, but also in many other spheres of contemporary life. Sport is seen to be more and more connected to the controversial

world politics, ethics and for example in issues of (in)equality. EASS conferences offer great platforms for sport sociologists to launch and discuss research in these and other topics that observe the roles and significance of sport, physical activity and exercise in society.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the next EASS conference in July 2025, and wish you warmly welcome to Warsaw and to the EASS community of academic friends.

Warm regards,

President of the EASS
Hanna Vehmas

EASS 2025 greetings

Our university has a long-standing tradition of research in sport science and sport sociology. We are pleased to be collaborating with the European Association for Sociology of Sport (EASS) in organizing the 2025 EASS conference, which will be held in Warsaw at Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education. This will be the second EASS conference hosted in Poland, following the 2004 event in Rzeszów, which was the first of its kind in our country.

The 2025 conference will be organized by the Department of Humanistic and Social Sciences, with the support of the Sport Sociology Section of the Polish Sociological Association.

I am confident that this will be a highly successful academic event, fostering greater international collaboration in sport sociology and sport sciences, as well as providing an excellent opportunity to visit the vibrant city of Warsaw and explore Poland.

Sincerely yours,

Prof. dr hab. Bartosz Molik
Rector of the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw
