What will you see?

The Old Town Market Square in Warsaw is the historic heart of the city – a lively, colorful space full of charm, cobbled streets, and centuries of history. Surrounded by beautifully restored 17th- and 18th-century townhouses, it stands as a symbol of Warsaw’s remarkable post-war reconstruction. Here you’ll find bustling cafés, restaurants serving traditional Polish and European cuisine, art galleries, and quaint shops offering amber jewelry and local souvenirs. At the center of the square stands the iconic Warsaw Mermaid – the city’s beloved symbol and a must-see landmark. In the summer, the square comes alive with cultural events and open-air performances. It’s a place where history meets everyday life, drawing both visitors and locals alike. A walk through this square is a step back in time and a true taste of Warsaw’s unique spirit.

The Old Town Market Square

Castle Square is one of Warsaw’s most iconic and representative locations, situated at the entrance to the Old Town. Surrounded by elegant townhouses and buzzing with life year-round, it’s a popular meeting point and the site of many public events. From the square, you can enjoy a scenic view of the Royal Route and the eastern panorama of the city. It’s the perfect starting point for exploring Warsaw’s historic center.

At the heart of the square stands Sigismund’s Column – one of Warsaw’s most recognizable landmarks. Erected in 1644, it was the first secular monument of its kind in Poland. It commemorates King Sigismund III Vasa, who moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw. Today, it serves as a popular meeting spot and an important city symbol.

The Royal Castle dominates the square and once served as the residence of Polish monarchs – now it functions as a museum. Inside, visitors can admire restored royal chambers, valuable artworks, and historical treasures. In summer, the Royal Gardens behind the castle are well worth a visit, offering lovely views of the Vistula River.
